Dogs on Thursdays...DOT!

Golden slumber kiss your eyes,
Smiles await you when you rise.
Sleep,pretty Fuji,
Do not cry,
And I'll sing you a lullaby.
Care you know not,
Therefore sleep,
While I o'er you watch do keep.
Sleep,pretty darling,
Do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby.

Books...

Jimmy reading his new Peanuts comic book!

Got some new books in the mail. There's some really cute crochet patterns in the Happy Hooker...really want to make the crocheted cowboy hat. Finally got the Knit Two book too, there's been so many books I've been wanting to read that this has just been sitting in my wish list area of amazon. I'm still reading the Charlaine Harris books though so when I'm finished with those I'll start this one.
Did get the new Creative Knitting and Knit n' Style magazines yesterday. Nothing seems to pop out to me...I don't think I've ever made anything from the magazines I receive. I get so many patterns on Ravelry that I have a list of "to do's." Do you knit patterns from these magazines or other that you subscribe to? Let me know. I do love looking at them though!:)

Year of the Ox!

Happy Chinese New Year 2009...The Year of the Ox!

The Ox is a symbol of wealth and success through hard work and resilience - this might be a blessing in our poor economic times. They are known for their ambition, drive and fortitude. Great patience, dedication and tenacity...they are born leaders.
Do you know some of these famous people were born in the Year of the Ox?...Barack Obama, Meryl Streep, Bruce Springsteen, Walt Disney, Princess Diana, Napoleon Bonaparte & Vincent Van Gogh!!!

A Worthy Cause....

I was reading my friend, Rhoda's blog post and found this heart wrenching story; Dylan's story. Please read his story and help support this cause if you can. They are going to draw names on February 7 to win some yarny goodness. If you donate and post to your blog you get an extra entry so lets show Dylan some love and spread the word about this!

FO Friday!

Fuji says "Namaste!"

Yoga socks are finished!
Haven't used them yet because haven't felt well from all the dental work.

Two Crocheted Chemo Hats with roses on them for the Hearts of Love group.

And finished the Valentine cloth!
Lots coming off the needles...I'm sure lots will be going on!
Still on the needles: Dream in Color Shrug and Peppermint Patty sock!
Might wind the Malabrigo I got the other day and start the cowl and scarf! Oh and I want to start crocheting that blanket that I bought the Vanna yarn for....we'll see!

For the non-knitters who read my blog...FO is not a bad word, it means Finished Object!:)

Dogs on Thursdays...DOT!

Fuji pouting until Mommy gets home!
Fuji pouts until I get home even if my hubby or son is home. She'll sit on the back of the couch and just wait. They've tried to give her loving but she really just wants her mama. Although when I get home she gives them lots of love and attention. I didn't really believe she did this until James recorded her doing it. Sweet puppy!
Mommy's home...lots and lots of kisses!

Now when my hubby gets home from somewhere he's been...everyone knows because Fuji howls like a coyote for him and whines really, really loud. She tilts her head back and literally howls up into the air...so funny! I'll have to record that one day!

Tooth Tuesday!

Worsted weight Malabrigo in Tiger Lily and Cadmium!

Karoake soy silk/wool.
These were in the mailbox when I got home. What a great treat to get...perfect timing!
Made me smile but with my mouth numb only part of it came up!:) Bet you thought I was going to get a tooth photo huh? Did think of it but decided not to...maybe next time!:)

For the next three weeks the blog posts on Tuesdays will be Tooth Tuesdays. Had an endodontic appt. today...another in two weeks...and Jimmy has a dentist appt. next Tuesday...soooo the next three Tuesdays are teeth days!

Had the endodontic appt. today and yup had to have another root canal. I'm extra special because my roots curve at the ends and I have more roots than the normal person...lucky me. I even got to have "special" shots...one in the side of my face that's supposed to feel like a bruise but like I told the doctor I will bruise anyways...then the other shot got to go right through the middle of the tooth. They have to numb me like a horse because redheads don't take anesthesia well...do we hear another lucky me! Came home took some more advil, grabbed an ice pack, turned on my ocean sound machine and knocked out for a couple of hours. I go back in two weeks for the second part of the root canal. He does it in two sessions so he makes sure to get out any infection etc. that might creep up. Fuji gave me lots of good kisses to make it better. Gonna go have some tea and crochet a bit.

Martin Luther King Day...Movie Monday...

James and Jimmy have today off because of Martin Luther King Day. Caught them playing a little basketball and of course Gypsy had to sneak in and get a little loving!

I've been calling the dentists trying to get in to see them sooner than Thursday because I'm in soooo much pain. The dentist thinks its the root canal that I had done in October or the tooth next to it. Either way I'm in lots of pain. They finally called me back and are getting me in tomorrow. Never thought I'd look forward to seeing an Endodontist! So in the meantime I've been popping Advil like its candy every couple of hours...finally knocked out for a nap so got some rest from being up all night throbbing!

I did get to my knitting group meeting yesterday. Its nice to see what everyone is working on, what yarn they're using, etc. I also called my TN buddy, but just got her machine. I haven't heard from her in awhile and am hoping she is ok and I miss her lots!

Movie Monday....Rented Wanted and Meet Dave this weekend.... Wanted was good...had to really follow along which is kind of hard when I'm trying to knit :); Angelina Jolie is in this so very much an action movie, she is too skinny in this though, think she needs some lasagna!:) Meet Dave has Eddie Murphy so of course was a cute comedy, Jimmy was able to enjoy this one. He's from outer space and comes to earth but his body is his spaceship..funny. Usually we rent more for the weekend but got there late.

On the needles: the cast on part of the Dream in Color shrug (haven't worked on it except for casting on); the Valentine cloth; the Peppermint Patty socks; and my yoga socks (which are almost done.)

It was a little overcast today so made some oatmeal raisin cookies, knitted, listened to some podcasts and rested. Also heard from a good friend I knew in 7/8th grade on Facebook today...whats funny is she doesn't live far from me either! Its been so cool talking to her today! Take care!

Mail...Mesh...Movies...

In the mail I found this wonderful package from Chan yesterday! Six yoga dvd's, yoga bible, some yummy choc/mint yarn....Love, love, love it Chan....thank you sooooo much. I did do 40 minutes of it, was quite proud of myself until later when I started "feeling the yoga" so got a nice, hot bath to relax the muscles. Boy you should see some of the positions these people get into in this book...they must not have any bones in their bodies! I did go to Target today and got a yoga mat (pink with hot pink lace hearts) so I don't slip on the carpet and can get a good grip!

Made this the night before while waiting for Jimmy at swimming. It's crocheted and called a mesh cloth. I just love the color. Its Bernat Handicrafter cotton, which I tried to get more at JoAnn's but they don't have anymore...weird!
Jimmy and I went and saw Hotel for Dogs today......soooooooooooooooooooo good! It's definitely a buyer when it comes out on dvd! Jimmy giggled at me in the movies because of course I started crying at a certain point in it....very, very happy ending though. If you love dogs you have to see it, you'll love it! Plus Pedigree donates a portion of the ticket sales to shelters! Good cause, good movie! Then went to McD's to get a Happy Meal because they had the movie toys!
On the needles: Dream in Color Shrug...Peppermint Patty sock two...Valentine cloth and thinking about casting on for some yoga socks. Gotta get something back on the hook too and will probably start the blanket I'm wanting to make for the couch.
Have a great weekend...and KNIT!:)

Dogs on Thursdays...DOT!

This group is for people who love their dogs and want to talk about them once a week! So on every Thursday...it'll be about Fuji or Gypsy! Plus you can visit other dog lovers by clicking on the dog bone! I found this group off of Chan's blog and on the BarknKnit podcast...very cool! This is another great podcast to listen too!
I did want to mention a doggy post today...a new movie comes out tomorrow Hotel for Dogs! Jimmy and I are going to go see it tomorrow. McDonald's even has the toys in their Happy Meals...so guess where we'll be going for lunch! Its about:
When their new guardians forbid 16-year old Andi and her younger brother, Bruce to have a pet, Andi has to use her quick wit to help find a new home for their dog, Friday. The resourceful kids stumble upon an abandoned hotel and using Bruce's talents as a mechanical genius, transform it into a magical dog-paradise for Friday--and eventually for all Friday's friends. When barking dogs make the neighbors suspicious, Andi and Bruce use every invention they have to avoid anyone discovering "who let the dogs in."
What's cool is for every ticket purchased to see the movie, Pedigree, is making a donation to help shelter dogs! So go see it and help a shelter!

Welcome Bonsai!

We got a new family member...Bonsai the Betta fish!
Went to the dentist because my root canal I had done a couple months ago is still causing me pain...have to go to the root canal doc next week for him to check it...Sooooooo Jimmy and I went to Petsmart to get us a new fish! We had one a couple years ago that lasted 4-5 years!
While we were out Fedex dropped off my new Crocs...I love Crocs and they were on sale for $14.99! So got bright blue, orange, and purple!
Have a wonderful day!

First FO's of the Year....

Crocheted Swirl Cap....been wanting to make a newsboy cap...really easy and fun!
Found the cute pewter heart buttons at JoAnn's the other day...perfect Valentine hat!
Easy Crochet Dishcloth...crocheted this yesterday while Jimmy was taking his math and history test. Needs to be a smidgen bigger though....next time!

Finally finished one of the Peppermint Patty socks....had to rip it out the first time because it wasn't long enough. I was/am worrying about having enough for the second sock but this weighed 40gms. and I have 75gms on the ball...I guess looks are deceiving. Every fourth stitch is a cable so this is taking quite a long time especially since its on size 1 needles!

Shopping!

Friday, Jimmy and I went around running errands and doing some shopping. We went to the mall so he could get a couple new Webkinz with his Christmas money...an emperor dragon, lime dinosaur, and a sea otter...all very cute. We walked the mall and window shopped and joked around for awhile....then we went to JoAnn's. I was going in to get some cotton and buttons and some other yarn jumped into the cart too. I bought the greens to crochet a throw for the couch. I already have one for the couch but Fuji has designated it as hers. She buries herself under it...you got to be careful because you would just think its an afghan thrown on the couch but she's under it! She has no hair on her underside and the top is very thin so she likes to stay warm cuz she's a naked puppy! Yes, I'm a good momma too and have made her sweaters (she has a whole drawer full) but she hates them and thinks she's in trouble when she has one on....unless its to wear when we go to Petsmart, then she struts with her chin held high!:) So funny!

Yesterday was spent cleaning, laundry, ironing, vacuuming, chocolate chip cookie making, listening to podcasts day....Today I'm hoping to go to a local knitting group meeting. Haven't done the Wii Fit in a couple of days because I'm hurting so bad from it...guess I should listen to it and take it easy, work up to it...blah blah, yes I did it gung ho and have been doing over an hour a day! No wonder I can barely move/walk!

James got a new zune for Christmas so I got his old one, which isn't even old, he got it last year for Christmas, but of course his new one has more room. Anyways I'm so addicted to podcasts now! I've listened to Nevernotknitting since Alana first started it but always listened to it off the computer so.....I just downloaded CogKNITive because she's in my local knitting group...love, love, love it! Then I found Knit Naturally, which I've been friends with TX Dawn since I started blogging but never knew she started a podcast! Love, love, love it tooooo! Then I found Lime and Violet, which is an awesome one, lots of catching up on this one I need to do. Another one I just love is Brown-Eyed Mom....love, love this one but she stopped podcasting last year due to a loss...I pray for her and her family during this hard time. I've downloaded some more but haven't had time to listen to them yet. What one's are your favorites?

Have a great weekend.....and KNIT/CROCHET!

Woolgirl Sale!

Namaste Zuma bag in Peacock color!
Was quite surprised how much smaller this is compared to my other Namaste bags. Will still hold a lot of stuff though and I just love the color. They have such awesome colors that its hard to decide which one to get. They have an awesome lime color, Hollywood pink...they need to make a bright red, that would be awesome!

Dream in Color shrug pattern and Dream in Color Classy in Nightwatch colorway.
Woolgirl had an after New Year's sale...whoohoo! The bag was 25% off and the yarn and pattern was also on sale, can't remember the percent though..but super deals! She, Jen, also throws in cute things with her packages...a cute sheep notepad and a stitch marker. She's the best and I just love shopping at Woolgirl!
I'm really feeling the Castonitis bug creeping up on me...I want to cast on for this shrug..I want to cast on another pair of socks...I want to cast on for the swirl wrap........
Update on the Wii Fit......OUCH....yesterday I could barely move when I woke up...once I got around it loosened up a bit....today I still feel the aches but not quite as bad. Whats good is that means its working! Its sooooo much fun. I try to beat James' high scores, which is super hard to do. He's doing awesome with it too....he's already lost five pounds! Great job honey!

Let's get physical...

Found the Wii Fit today...whoohoo! When we got there they only had two left, whew! It's so much fun! It weighs you and does your BMI (not fun) and tests your abilities. Then there is balancing games, strength training games, yoga, and aerobics. We even got a Wii Fit towel free with it! I'll probably be hurting tomorrow from it cuz I wanted to try all the things!
On the needles/hooks: Swirl Cap is on the hook and Peppermint Patty sock is on the needles. Haven't done any today cuz I've been Wii'ing!

Goodies...

Received this lovely package from Seasidepurl today. Two beautiful, hand knit cloths; some tea and a beautiful star ornament! So thoughtful and sweet of her to think of me. Thank you so much Teresita! She has a wonderful group on Ravelry called Hearts of Love, this is the group that I send my chemo hats too. Check it out when you're on Rav!

Jimmy and I got some new crocs in the mail too, they were on sale for $14.99! Wow! I got the bright red ones and he chose the blue. Such a great price....I love Crocs! Wish they'd make a clear pair! I've thought of getting the clear Converse but don't want sweaty feet...

My new Namaste Laguna bag came today too. Love it! It's so soft, a lot softer than my other Namaste bag! These are my favorite bags! Also ordered a Zuma one the other day too!:) Woolgirl has them on sale right now so if you're wanting one that's the place to go, plus she has lots of yarn on sale too!

Took the car to get the windows tinted today. Been doing laundry and changing beds. Gonna go have a little tea and knit a bit! Tootles!

New Year's Superstitions...

If you're from the South you will recognize this yearly endeavor. It is supposed to bring you good luck and prosperity for the year to eat black eyed peas on New Years day. This is from a time when the South was mostly unsettled, and black eyed peas were fed to the cattle. The settlers had to eat the black eyed peas fed to the cattle to survive the harsh winter until supplies could come, and it was the black eyed peas that were meant for the cattle that kept them alive.

Another superstition is to not wash clothes on this day. It is believed that if you do a loved one will die. The two above are practiced religiously by my family and have since I was little. I was surprised to find more New Years superstitions but we won't mention them here in case they be adopted by my family!:) Do you have any rituals you do for New Years?

May we all have a wonderful New Years!
