Windy!!!

This past weekend we (James) put up our greenhouse. This will be so nice so my herbs don't freeze to death this winter and other less hardy plants won't die. Also got all the panels on and it looked so nice. Wellllll, today we had some wind. Not just any wind but 60-70 mph wind. I could not even see the plants on my porch there was so much dirt from the wind. Then I started hearing plastic flopping and when it died down a bit saw it flying ten acres away from my house. Jimmy and I bundled up, put safety glasses on, gloves, face masks and headed out to pick up the panels of my greenhouse that were on there way to Kansas! Not easy picking up six foot plastic panels in a wind storm! We were so tired and covered in dirt...ears filled with dirt, face covered in dirt, dirt everywhere.....haha guess I should of used my dirt soap to clean with huh?:) We decided to call a "wind day" like they have "snow days." I made some yummy Smore mix to snack on and going to have fresh, homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner (been making so much soap almost said chicken noodle soap)!:) Going to knit tonight while watching "So You Think You Can Dance!" Have a great evening guys!

Can Crusher!

James and Jimmy were watching a show called Time Warp the other night where they crushed cans with steam and ice water.....well my boys had to try it!

They filled a pot with ice and water...then they put water in the kettle, heated it up until it was steaming....they then put a diet coke can opening near the steam and let it fill with it until it was almost too hot to hold with a hot pad glove....then you hurry and put it opening down into the ice cold pot of water and it crushes the can down! Pretty cool.... Jimmy had soooo much fun that I think he did over 24 cans! Of course they couldn't stop with a can, they had to try a couple of different bottles which didn't work and even cut the top part off a can to see if it'd work, which it didn't. Awesome, fun, and exciting experiment! Big squeals every time it worked!:)

Baby Skully Hat!

A finished object!!! Made this baby hat for a friend at my hubby's work. I saw a pic of baby Ashur in a skully diaper and when I saw this pattern had to make it for him! I'm sure hoping it will fit him. If not his mommy can put it on one of his plush toys!

Belly Dance Recital!

Wednesday evening, James and I went to the Desert Dance Recital.
I wanted to see all the different styles of belly dancing and this was the perfect way to do so. We had a really great time. The MC was a dance teacher (Lia Kamminga) I'd had when I was little and ice skating. Went up to her at the end to talk to her and she remembered me! Then we saw one of the professional dancers and she used to be our old neighbor in our previous house. Such a small world!

There was Egptian style, tribal style, gothic style, cabaret style, Hiplash.....even one gal belly danced with a huge sword balanced on her head!

Above front left is my knitting friend, Mindy (HeyMindy on Ravelry) performing the tribal style of belly dancing. The girl on the back right is only 14 too and is a real sweetie! It was a very entertaining night! Maybe next year I'll be in it.....hmmmm!:)
