Love Train test knit by Susan Ashcroft aka stitchnerd is blocking!! 9 days to knit! Size 6 circulars and have 12.5 gms leftover. Numma Numma Toasty in the black cherry jam colorway. My hands are stained red after blocking it!

Laundry Detergent!

Today I'm making laundry detergent....

1 bar soap

1 cup washing soda (in the laundry detergent aisle/Arm & Hammer)

1/2 cup borax (not necessary but helps in the cleaning)

5 gallon bucket

3 gallons of water

big spoon, measuring cup

1. Boil 4 cups of water in a pan...while this is heating, shave your soap bar. Dissolve in the boiling water.

2. Add three gallons of hot water into your five gallon bucket.....mix in your hot soapy water from step 1....add cup of washing soda....stir....add half cup borax and stir again.

3. Let sit for 24 hours.

4. After the 24 hours you'll have a slimy gel and it's ready to use. 1 cup per load! Out of the three gallons you'll get approx. 48 loads of laundry!

This will save you about $70 a year! Which equals approximately two/three skeins of sock yarn! LOL

Fibernymph Bounce 80% merino/20% nylon; 400 yds. in the Vampire Kisses colorway! Gorgeous, smooshy and love, love, love it!

The Loopy Ewe order...some more Malabrigo (one can never have enough Malabrigo), Collinette Jitterbug sock yarn, and Lil Loopy is holding a cute stitch marker!
OMG when I opened the box for this order I about gagged from the stench! I didn't even take the time to look at the yarn but immediately stuck it in Wolfe Farms so it could soak up the scents from that. I don't know what they do with that Collinette yarn but will never, ever buy it again because of the smell. Someone mentioned on Plurk that it was their favorite sock yarn so thought I'd try it....how do they knit with it? @hotazzknitter and @courtsgram (after I got it) said "oh yeah, that yarn really stinks!" Glad its not just me!:) My nose don't work that well either and for me to smell it, its really bad!

Golden Grahams S'mores Bars

3/4 cup light corn syrup

3 tbsp. butter

1 package (2 cups) chocolate chips

3 cups mini marshmallows

1 tsp. vanilla

1 box of Golden Grahams cereal

1. Grease 13x9 pan and set aside.

2. Over medium heat, heat syrup, butter, and chocolate chips, stirring constantly until chips are melted. Remove and stir in vanilla.

3. Place cereal in large bowl and pour chocolate mixture over cereal and mix until completely coated. Fold in marshmallows 1 cup at a time.

4. Press into pan and let sit 1 hour (refrigerate if desired).

Working on some preemie hats for a couple different KAL's...one is for Sweet Caroline and will be going to Michigan and another is for Remy in New York (info of these on the Wolfe Farms Ravelry group). These are getting my knitting mojo/blog mojo back....the daybreak has really wore me down.

Preemie hats are done in Sunshine Yarns Classic: yellow above is Gourd and the other is New Moon Alice. They are so fun to do...will be doing quite a few of these. They are done on size 2 circs...

The never-ending Daybreak shawl...its almost done but each row takes about 4o minutes to get through...soooooo boring; at least the yarn is awesome. I have at least 8 more rows to go but have thrown it in a bag for a bit while I make some preemie hats!

February Lady Sweater is still marinating in a bag too...

Finished coop! All 25 are outside now!

Inside the coop....its so funny cuz they are staying in the groups they were separated into..ex. all the cochins are together...all the red stars stick to together...lol they have their own cliques!

It's been so windy here that the first day they wouldn't come out of the coop! They would look out the windows, peek from the doorway; one would get brave and step on the ramp and then turn around and run back in. The first ones out were my blue eyed rooster and one of the guinee keets (either Tom or Jerry; couldn't tell). The first day I think Jimmy took out each one and showed them how to get out and then showed them how to get back up the ramp into the coop. He's been phenomenal with all the birds! His favorite are still the ducks but you'd never know it by how much time he spends with the chicks.

Pickled Eggs & Beets

Pickled Eggs & Beets

Made these yesterday from our farm fresh eggs! Have to wait 4-5 days to try them out though...can't wait!:)

1/2 c vinegar

1/2 c water

1/2 c sugar

1/2 tsp. allspice

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

juice from large can of red beets

Boil all ingredients for ten minutes. Pour over 12 hard boiled eggs and red beets. Place in jar with tight lid; refrigerate. Lightly shake jar every few minutes to coat all the eggs.

Right now we have planted: onions, garlic, snap peas, romaine, beets, parsley, winter squash, collards, marjoram, rosemary, basil, tomatoes, egg plant, iceberg, buttercrunch, vivien lettuce, blend of lettuce, little yellow tomatoes, spinach, cucumber, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, grapes (tons), raspberries, pecans, honeydew, chocolate mint

In the orchard: (40 some trees) variety of different, peaches, nectarines, apricots, pears of different varieties, apples of different varieties

Still need to plant: radish, pumpkins, watermelon, zucchini, summer squash, corn, carrots, okra, cauliflower

LOL, I think that covers it...I'm sure I'm missing something...

The Los Angeles Fire Department put on wonderful demonstrations for the kids....

Arson Canine demonstration (pic above); Fire Station tours; dispatch center; different memorial areas (9/11 and an area memorializing every fire fighter that has lost his life in duty); where they train/test EMT's in cpr etc. with mechanical dummies that breath/have a pulse/talk, very computer techy! Pizza for lunch! They had a great day at work!:)

Babysitter Fuji............she's constantly checking on the ducklings and whimpers to them! She also keeps the cats away from the bathroom.....they're not allowed near her ducks!!!:)

Fuji won the Simply Fido contest on Nichole's blog....she got her prize and just loves it!

Simply Fido Bamboo Rayon Nap Mats are reversible and quilted for extra softness.

We also received the Oliver Dog Ring Toy. Four squeakers are in the feet/hands which are super fun!

Getting it comfy...also shows how it is reversible! Of course Fuji likes the green side!:)

Came with: Badlands, Painted Desert, Desert Cactus, Kelp Forest, Black and Blue, and Peacock! Ooooh, I just thought I have a shawl pattern called Peacock, hmmmmm might be my next thing I need, lol!

Jimmy and I went and ordered his school books for next year....omg I'm going to have a high schooler! Boy does time fly! Ran into @psalm127 while we were there and chatted with her for a bit which was a nice surprise!
