Charlie Brown Christmas Toe Ups!

This is the Southwestern pattern by Wendyknits.

Sock #1 of my second attempt at toe ups! Love this yarn....White Oak Studio Charlie Brown Christmas. The colors are so much brighter in person. This pattern is really fun too! Binded off with size 6's and had to rip it out and bind off with 8's. Then they fit perfect! Got to use my sock blocker for the picture too...so excited to use it. Need to get some of that Soak stuff...whats your opinion of it and favorite scent? Have a great day...gotta start sock #2!

Special TN package!

Wow wee! Look at what came in the mail today...yup I did the squeal dance!:) My TN knitting buddy sent me this huge package! Look at the beautiful sock yarn...its so soft, cuddly, and totally awesome colors! I've never used this yarn or even seen this kind...so excited! I'll have to use the Best Friend pattern with this yarn...hint, hint Dawn!:) We've become really great friends in such a short time...it feels like I've known her forever! Your friendship is the greatest gift of all...yup I'm going to get mushy and cry and not be able to see the computer screen. Yummy chocolate kisses, hot cocoa (which I've been drinking a lot of), Candy Cane tea (can't wait to try)(good for my sore throat), yummy berry lip gloss that I instantly put on as I'm snuggling my yarn, lotion for my dry (desert) hands :), modeling clay, adorable notepads (make all my scratches on from knitting) and look at the cute pen to do so with, and an awesome snowglobe that has two snowwomen :) in it (Dawn & Dawn). Whats funny is when I opened the snowglobe I was watching The Snowglobe movie on tv! Thanks a bunch Dawn....love, love everything! Can't express how much it means to me!

Oh, and guess what....started another pair of toe ups! Using the pattern on Wendyknits called Southwestern! Knitty has the figure 8 cast on Dawn...you gotta try it...go click on it!:) You can do it! Come on, come on...ready, set, go! Cast on, we'll do it together...we can complain about the things as we go!

I Won Something...a sweet gift!

I was one of the 1000th comment on Marisol's blog. So excited...I never win things! She sent this adorable shirt and yummy cookies...although I ate some of the cookies before I took the picture!

The lady who sent me the Chinese figurines sent home the art calendar for me and then another lady that works with my hubby sent the beautiful jewelry case "because your wife is so nice." The case is gorgeous and perfect for dpn's and notions! That was so sweet of them...

Off to work on the toe up socks a bit...hopefully a pic later (nope I didn't finish them last night TN :) !) I've got to get these done because I'm tired of looking at them! Hubby is now home for seventeen days...whoohoo....honey do's here we come!

Toe Ups...ugh! Whine post!

Ok, I've finished one of the toe ups twice now! I first binded off with the size 1's I was using..too tight on the calf...unbinded it and back knitted and used a size 2....too dang tight again but better. Went to bed and this morning unbinded them AGAIN and going to do a size 3...if this doesn't work ya'll are going to hear a loud scream! If it does work I'll have to remember what I did...my poor notepad looks like a math problem! I'm never going to finish these socks! I haven't even gotten my candy cane socks done and its almost Christmas...guess there's always next year...but I really wanted them done for this year. Whah! Need to wrap gifts, finish making cookies, finish shopping (poor mom still has nothing)...

Goodbye Sweet Boy...

We had to have our beautiful, brown lab put down today. He had a wonderful fifteen years with us and will be deeply missed. We love you Stimpy! November 1992-December 2007.

Ho Ho Ho!

Past couple of days been doing a lot of Christmas shopping...whew its so tiring! Jimmy's retainer broke so had to get another one molded the other day....My thyroid is worse so having to up the dosage on the medicine...I'm back to knitting my toe up socks ( TN Dawn will be proud!)...Thought I was about done with shopping and realized I haven't even gotten my mom anything! Shame, shame, shame on me! My grandma sent us some yummy meat the other day from Omaha meats...it came in a huge igloo..Jimmy went out and got it (150ft. from the house)...he looked like a little penguin waddling with it...I didn't know what it was and he didn't complain it was heavy...mean mommy I know! I teased my g'ma that the dog brought it to the house...she didn't find that very funny!:) Gotta get busy...tootles!

Charlie Brown!

Whoohooo! Got my Woolgirl Charlie Brown Christmas sock kit in. Soooo awesome...I got it Saturday but didn't open it until this morning because I was going to have James wrap it but....I just couldn't wait to take a peek!:) The yarn is White Oak tvyarn....her yarns are so yummy...love, love, love them! Isn't the sock bag just adorable...zigzagstitches on etsy makes them...gotta check out other fabrics she's made them in...so cute. Jen at Woolgirl added the Charlie Brown cocoa too and Christmas card which is just totally cool!

The Golden Compass!

Went to see The Golden Compass yesterday...it was sooooo good! Hope they make more of the movies! Have no idea what all the hoopla is about...they did this with Harry Potter too...don't people/critics understand what the work FICTION means! Oh well, everyone is welcomed to their own opinion.

Knitting some gifts so can't post or mention what they are....nope, haven't worked on the toe ups either...they're sitting their staring at me though saying finish me, finish me!

Christmas Tea!

Last night I went to our church's Christmas Tea. My mom, grandma and aunt went with me and we had such a great time! The had a huge raffle...my grandma won a family fun gift basket that had a fleece throw, Nativity book, Max Lucado dvd, and a 24 piece puzzle. She gave it to Jimmy and he immediately opened it, wrapped himself in the blanket, read the book, and put the puzzle together. They sang a lot of Christmas carols, the pastors wife told a beautiful, heartwarming story, and lots and lots of yummy goodies. All different kinds of cookies, scones with devon cream or lemon curd (which my mom ate plain), gingerbread cake, and a variety of teas. Our table was just gorgeous...each table is done differently but I think we got the most elegant one! Pink crystal, rose tea set, gold and crystal settings...just beautiful! Nope forgot to take a camera! Had a wonderful time...a time to remember! Can't wait till next years!

So nice...

A lady (Lien) at my husbands work went to Chinatown today and bought me these figurines..they bring good luck. I've been making cookies/bread every Tuesday for the past three weeks and she wanted to show her appreciation....and that I'm part of the family. Aren't they the cutest! My front bathroom is done in bamboo and these go perfect in there! That was just so nice of her...I've never even met her. He's very blessed to be surrounded by a bunch of great people. When I did meet some of his coworkers they couldn't keep from saying such nice, wonderful things about him. I'm the one truly blessed!

Jimmy Mitts!

Just finished Jimmy's mitts! Made with Malabrigo....so soft and cuddly! I like Malabrigo way better than the Manos...I'll have to make me some with Malabrigo now. Love the colors too.

Feel rather poopy today. Definitely a sinus infection...burning, burning sinus', throbbing head...laying on the couch in my pj's, drinking Pumpkin Cream Pie tea, and watching Christmas movies. Off to a nap though now with my eucalyptus candle and sound machine making rain noise. La la la, la la la....

Had fun at the Hallmark store today...got the singing/moving snowman, penguin, dog thingy they show on the commercial. Its so coool! Fuji likes watching it. We also got the singing Snoopy and his shirt lights up...Miss Fuji obviously doesn't like Snoopy because she grabbed it and took off running with it and biting its nose! I love Christmas time! Loved the new Shrek Christmas special too that was on last night! But love, love Polar Express...cd is even in the car so can hear it whenever we go someplace!:)

Monster Cookies and Manos Mitts!

These are the Monster Cookies! The first time I made my oatmeal cookies they were small little puff balls. I told my hubby I was going to make some more and he asked if I could make them cookie size this time. Well smart arse that I am...I made whopper size cookies...they're the size of a small saucer! Fingerless mitts are done...whohoo. These were so fun to make...so easy and fast too! Gotta make the boy some or he'll keep these!:) He posed quite well though! Gotta go swim practice!

Deck the Halls....

Hubby got all the outside lights put up this weekend...looks so pretty! Then yesterday we put up the tree...still have a lot more ornaments to put on it...ooh I love Christmas, its so much fun! I felt cruddy all day yesterday though....sore throat, headache, tired. Then last night Jimmy was stuffed up/snotty....not again Lord! He's been sick on and off since October...because of course once he gets the cold it then turns into the sinus infection....Hopefully today we will feel better. Almost have my fingerless mitts done too...only a couple more inches! Then back to the toe up socks!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies!

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! I'm making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and they are sooooooooooooooooooo good! I'm glad I doubled the recipe so I'll have a lot for tomorrow! The recipe is on CelticMommy's site. Last night I made homemade biscuits...hubby and son loved them but I wanted them a lot fluffier and airier (good english huh)! Anyone have an awesome biscuit recipe? Ovens beeping...

Nothing runs like a Deere....

Yup, another new toy...this one I have to share with hubby and son....hmmm who gets to do it first!:) Might help if we had grass!:0 It'll help put in the stuff though! Whoohoo. One of my favorite colors too! Hubby will have to sing "She thinks my tractors sexy...." when he drives it and I'll have to get him a cowboy hat too! Yeehaw!

Look what hubby found for me at a garage sale! Excuse the garage mess...haven't moved it into my workout room yet. So excited....its so fun! I've already gone 3/4mi.! Whoohoo! The best part is...guess how much he paid for it?.........................$15.00! Awesome huh?!!!!:) Gotta get busy doing chores!

Smores Toe Ups...take two!

Here's an update on my toe ups..there coming along nicely so far. I don't know if I care for the ladders its making with these dpn...hmmm do they show when they're on? I love this yarn from knitpicks, I wonder why they don't make it anymore? I just ordered some Lorna's Lace Shepherd Sock yarn, how is it to work with. I love the colorway I'm getting...its called Daffodil...yes the yarn has to have a cool name!:)

Day 3 (Sunday)

Yesterday we had another yummy breakfast at the Apple Farm. We then went to Morro Bay and hiked on a trail to an outlook area and did some pictures. I've been wanting a family pic to put over my fireplace for 10 years now and we finally did it. (We're going back there this morning before we leave because hubby isn't happy with it.) Then went to Los Osos area and hiked on the beach there that has a lot of caves and rocks and a museum. Next we got some lunch and went to Cayucos to look in antique shops. Walked down the pier and then on the sand and played on the swings as we watched surfers catching some waves. Came back to Cambria area and shopped (bought some adorable teapot/cups (pics later)), Jimmy got a potato shooter, and some to die for fudge (melts in your mouth). Oh and in Cayucos went to a Starbucks and ordered a Peppermint mocha decaf....I'm hooked sooooooooooooooooooo good, can't wait to have another.

Today (Monday) we're redoing some pictures, playing on the beach, and heading towards home. I miss my Fuji! Might check out a couple more yarn stores if they're open today. So tired...gotta have a vacation from having a vacation!:)

Day 2

Yesterday was day two...went to a yummy, scrumptious breakfast at Apple Farm. Then went to my favorite yarn store in Atascadero, The Scarlet Skein, was quite excited to see Alana that I'd met the last time I was there...went back to San Luis Obisipo and went to another yarn store, photography store (hubby), and other shops...went to Morro Bay shopping (Jimmy got some awesome shells)...got lunch at McD's as we drove to Cayucos to meet up with some friends. Jimmy had a blast playing on the beach with the kids...had to run to the store and get him some swim trunks because he got soaking wet...mind you even in CA its winter, approximately 60 degree weather, I even had my wool jacket on! Went back to the hotel to shower Jimmy and get him warmed up. Hubby went to our favorite pizza joint and brought back pizza to the room and we just chilled out! In bed and asleep by 7:30...all of us exhausted! It seems like we've been gone from home forever! I missed seeing my friend from ravelry because she's sick with a sinus infection...definitely know how miserable that is...pray she gets better soon and will meet her when we come back in April!

Day One - Yesterday...

Started to head out to our trip and hubby got a call from work and had to go in for a meeting. It was pretty cool because we got to see his new office and downtown LA. Once we got to San Lois Obisipo we had dinner at the Apple Farm...yummm its one of our favorite restaurants ever! Yarn stores today...whoohoo!

Trip!

Been ironing...doing laundry...ironing...packing...ironing...other chores. Tomorrow...Cambria!

Shopping

Ug, today I have to go shopping. I don't have enough pants for our trip to last 4 days...I would if my tush wasn't so big! Jimmy doesn't have enough pants (that don't have holes in the knees) and by golly he's grown...although we are going to the beach so I guess high waters would be appropriate! :) Oh joy this will be fun, each of us trying on clothes! I think I need new crocs too...what do ya think Jen! And of course I've already thought...instead of pants thats yarn money! ha ha Tomorrow will be laundry, ironing, packing day. I've found lots of yarn shops along the way...boy I got a great hubby!

In the knitting news: I'm working on my tofutsie socks (so much fun untangling yarn as you knit...again thanks Fuji)...I have both toes done on my smore toe up socks....Have about 4-5 sock patterns picked out that I have (yes have) to get sock yarn for this weekend! Want to do the monkey socks, jaywalker, Baudelaire, hmmm can't think of the other one! Hope these aren't to hard! Plus I might get to meet to of my friends from ravelry!

My First Toe-Ups!

Started my first toe-ups! I used the knitty figure 8 cast on, size 1 dpn, and Knitpicks Memories in smores (Jen socks!). The pattern I'm going to kinda follow is Fingering Weight Toe-Up Socks with gusset heel by Wendyknits. I'm also going to do both of them at the same time so they'll both be done a the same time!:)

Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah

Whoohoo, oh yeah, doing the happy dance! My knitpicks order just came, whoohoo. I got the Ann Budd beginning socks book, 0 dpn in Harmony, 32 circ to try magic loop with, candy cane sock pattern, and gloss yarn in burgandy to make the socks! So happy, oh so happy!:)

MMMM...fresh bread baking...

Yummy! Just got done making persimmon bread. Hubby brought home some persimmons the other day from a lady at work. I've never had them before nor even seen them and they're really good. I love fall!

Finally...

Whew...I finally figured out the short row heel. Working on my second tofutsie sock and did the whole heel last night. I found an awesome tutorial that made it click in my head and work in my hands!:) Both sides of my heel look alike on this sock...yeah!

Boy is Ravelry addicting! I'll go on to look at something and then hours later I'm like where has the time gone!:) Plus the taking of all the pictures of your stuff and getting it onto the site takes forever too. I keep finding things to put on! But it is sooooo awesome!

Hubby booked our hotel for next weekend in Cambria, CA. I can't wait. I get to visit my favorite yarn store The Scarlet Skein! Its sweet of him to take me away...it'll be the year anniversary that my best friend for twenty years, Andrea, passed away from a tough battle of cancer. It'll be a very hard weekend....its been a very hard year...so hard to believe its been a year...

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Ya'll! Jimmy went to the doctor today and he has another sinus infection. They gave him some medicine and going to monitor him for twenty days. Took him trick-or-treating at Walmart since he won't be going out tonight. He got a new Lego, Charlie Brown 3 pack DVD's, and a bunch of candy. We came home and watched The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Meet the Robinsons. We ate some candy and he built his lego as I played on Ravelry. Hubby brought home Panda Express too...yuuuummmmm! Hope you all had a spooktacular day!

Jimmy's Bear Finished!

Yeah, I finished Jimmy's bear just in time for Halloween! Notice I even made it a spooky, Halloween scarf! What's extra cool for him is the scarf is just like the Halloween scarf on Club Penguin...its sooo awesome! Can't wait for him to wake up and see it next to him!:)

My darling aunt sent Jimmy an awesome Halloween treat on Friday. He waited all weekend to nibble on it so I could take a picture of it and put it on my blog. Its from Hershey, Pennsylvania! 3lbs. of chocolate! MMMMMM! He just loves it!
