Knittin' Books...

I love good mail days! Received these in the mail yesterday! I'm starting the knitting guild's masters program and these were recommended...I also have a lot of books on hold at the library too, lots of reading and research! The program really questions you as to why you do things and what is the best way to do things. I've always just knit and not questioned why or how I was doing something. A big, huge change in how I approach a project now!

Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitting Workshop (Hardcover)....haven't delved into this one yet...

Knitter's Handbook : A Comprehensive Guide to the Principles and Techniques of Handknitting (Paperback) by Montse Stanley. The ultimate reference for knitters at every level-step-by-step directions and detailed instructional illustrations cover every aspect of knitting know-how. Includes a special "help!" section for the inevitable mishaps, and shows how to correct errors. They are not joking about this being the ultimate reference...every knitter needs this book...so many things I've never even heard of. The illustrations could be a bit better though.

The Knitters Book of Finishing Techniques (Spiral-bound) by, Nancie Wiseman. Love that this is spiral bound because it lays nicely on the table!:) Always a plus! Knitted one too many sweaters that scream "homemade"? Help is here! Finishing techniques are the key to turning out professional-looking projects. This comprehensive reference gives you the know-how you need to get gorgeous, polished results every time. This is my favorite book...out of all my knitting books this one ranks number 1! Perfect illustrations, pros and cons on different techniques, just love it!

Vogue Knitting and The Knitting Answer Book have also been extremely helpful!

Ooooh, knitting books. Always time for that. (Masters program? That sounds interesting...)

After working for some time just trying to get my *&^% Kirchner stitch right, and failing in a spectacular way, I think I will just knit quietly, over here... Where no one will see. *sigh*

Congrats on the arrival of the great books! I also have the Nancie Wiseman book (Ravelry doesn't let me add it to my Library for some reason). Maybe you'll let me see your new Zimmerman book? KnittinWolf you're already the best knitter I know and how exciting that you're going through the master's program!
