James' FO!:)

James has been making our headboard for our new king size bed!
Furniture stores never carry oak anymore and love my dresser, armour, and curio cabinet in my room and wanted something to match...so whalla James started working on this!:)

Just finished....

Moved it into the bedroom last night! Love having the lights to read my books!
It matches the other furniture perfectly! So excited and he did such a wonderful job! Its amazing how exactly perfect it is to the other furniture...can you tell I'm excited!:) Now I need a quilt rack made, shelves in the office, pergola and patio outside my bedroom, my dining room table...poor guy, his honey do lists is always growing!

Fitted Knits Class!

HeyMindy was our fabulous teacher yesterday at Grandma's Yarns & Notions!
She taught a class on fitting your knits to your body type.
We got to measure ourselves for sweaters/skirts...this was the depressing, hilarious part!:)

Learned how schematics are guidelines and not actual rules...and to not ignore your row gauge!:) Short row shaping (heel flap for your boobs). Also had wonderful examples shown to us and some awesome books to add to my amazon wishlist!:)

Those in attendance using Ravelry names were: HeyMindy and her hubby Jaimie; DawnRene; CourtsGram; Katnmouse; Knittinwolf; LakeAlien; Vmomr (all the way from Acton); grandmaangie; lszeremet; neckio30; familydiva, KnittingGlassGuy showed up later for knitting time!

DawnRene, Katnmouse, CourtsGram and I went out to lunch at Panera after the class and had a totally fabulous lunch and giggles! We had so much fun yesterday that we are all in a fog today! After lunch we went back to the shop for knitting time! Nancy brought in a coconut cake to celebrate Angie's birthday too....a day of fun and good times!

I've Been Tagged...

CoggieTM (Kari) from the High Fiber Diet Podcast tagged me on her blog!
Here are my answers...
1- What’s your staple meal (ie. what meal do you cook most often when you can’t be bothered to be adventurous) ? Anything with chicken: beer butt chicken/chicken & rice/teriyaki chicken burger (having those tonight)....James is the chef in the family! He's an awesome cook!
2- What do you want to be when you grow up? "When I grow up I wanna be an old woman..."; gotta love the Kaiser commercial....seriously though I am what I want to be, a mom/wife; the best, most rewarding thing ever! Maybe will resume my therapy practice one day because I love doing that too!
3- What book are you reading at the moment (if any)....I'm reading all the Hardy Boys books Jimmy has read and just started reading Eclipse again in preparation for the movie next week. Also reading a lot of knitting technique books for the tkga program.
4- How do you relax? Relax, what's that? I spin/knit/crochet/read/bubble baths...super stressed I unload onto James!:) Poor guy I'm always bending his ears!
5- What color are the interior walls of your home? Workout room is poppy orange/dining room is forest green/kitchen is sunflower yellow/ pecan throughout/bedroom is sage green/ school room is ocean blue/laundry room is country blue, light blue
6- What is your guiltiest pleasure? I don't think I have one...maybe knit meetings? Pot of tea and knitting in the morning for 1/2 an hour...
7- What time is bedtime and getting up time? Bedtime is 10:00pm or sometimes sooner....getting up time is between 5-6am, usually before the sunrises...hence the name, Dawn!:) Love mornings!
8- How long do you spend reading blogs (per day or per week)? approximately 1/2 an hour every morning....gotta keep up with all my bloggy buddies!:)
My selections for the next round of "tagging"are:

Dogs on Thursdays...DOT!

"Mom forgot to give me a tiny bite of cheese while she was making Jimmy's sandwich....so we had to do a bit of training with Momma!....I sat at the refrigerator door and whined and cried......guess what?.....Mom came running to see what was wrong.....training part one complete!"

"I then looked at the refrigerator and scratched at the door....Mommy started laughing and said 'oops forgot your cheese!'....she proceeded to open the fridge and get my cheese!"

"Wow, its so easy to train humans!...by the way, I tried this again ten minutes later and it didn't work!:( We'll try again tomorrow and see how Mom does!"
Happy DOT!

In the mail....

Nobody likes me,
Everybody hates me,
Guess I'll go eat worms,
Long, thin, slimy ones,
Short, fat, juicy ones,
Itsy, bitsy, fuzzy wuzzy worms.
Down goes the first one,
Down goes the second one,
Oh how they wiggle and squirm.
Up comes the first one,
Up comes the second one,
Oh how they wiggle and squirm.

These are for our bearded dragon. Had to mail order them because none of the stores around us are carrying them right now! Was so disgusting, could hear them moving in the box and could actually feel them moving in it also! Ug!!!

On the brighter side and less grosser side....my stitch markers from Crimson Orchids came!

Amethyst, Tiger Eye and Blue Lace Agate!

They are soooo pretty, can't wait to use them! Might need to cast on another shawl just so I can!:)

Centrique Shawl!

Centrique Shawl I made for my mil's (Mum's) birthday!
It was made on US 6 circulars and the yarn is Plymouth Yarn Sockin' Sox.
It reminded me of peacock feathers when it was all laid out and blocking!
Last week CoggieTM of The High Fiber Diet Podcast mentioned it on her episode!:)

Hope she enjoys wearing it! Would love to have a picture of her with it on!:)
I enjoyed this pattern so much I'm making another...this one is out of FreckleFaceFibers Tehachapi in the Fall colorway! This was the colorway she designed for last years Cogknitive Retreat! Wanted to make something out of it so I can wear it to this years retreat!:)
