Dogs on Thursdays...DOT!

This is our big dog, Gypsy. She "found" me 9.5 years ago. I took soooo many pics of her yesterday and these are the only ones that came out. She does not like having her picture taken. She kept turning her back to me and ignoring me. She started giving me the "leave me alone" look so photography session stopped.

This is where she started giving me the look. She's a little off and the vets wanted to put her down because she likes to attack little animals and when pulled off will turn on you. I'm a big sucker though and wouldn't put a healthy dog down. We're just real careful with her. We don't allow her near the cats or Fuji, she has her own room. She also hates being outside. She will go outside to potty and if I'm home alone will circle the property to make sure I'm ok. If I'm outside she will walk with me most of the way but then runs for the back door to be let in. She loves her belly rubbed and likes to tear out squeakers in toys. We love her!

Getting some pettin' from her Daddy before she goes outside to do her business!

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Finished my Dream in Color Shrug....this is the back. I haven't blocked it yet because I wanted to wear it!:) I love this pattern and its so comfy! Dream in Color yarn is sooo yummy and great to work with! I would definitely do this pattern again!

Love my shrug!:) Got to wear it to the dentist and the hygienist asked me "where did you get that beautiful sweater?" I thought she'd fall over when I said I made it! The look she gave me was soooo funny. Told her I'd just finished it last night! Sooooo cool. When I got home from the dentist and running errands I found this in the mailbox!

A drop spindle kit with alpaca roving! Ohhhh the alpaca roving is sooooo soft and squishy and wonderful. Can't wait to try this out. Gonna watch a lot of youtube videos before I start. How fun though to be able to make your own yarn!:) We'll see if I'm still saying this when I try it out!

Have a great Mardis Gras Fat day!:)

They were super fun and easy! I was going to work on the alpaca wrap but just couldn't face it after trying it yesterday. Gonna go work on my dream in color shrug...almost done with it just need to do the edging.
My friend, Jennifer, just got a new addition to her family....you've got to see this sweet baby!

Smile from God!

Isn't this the coolest pic! I was emailed this from a good friend, Sindia, today and wanted to share it with you all. Jimmy thought someone photoshopped the smile and didn't even realize that those are birds! So funny! How cool it must have been for the photographer of this! Hope everyone has a great weekend....Happy knitting/croing!

Yarnie Goodness!

This is the yummy yarn James had me order for my Valentine's....its so scrumptious...Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Lavender mix colorway. I'm going to crochet a wrap with it. Can't wait to start it, might pull out the ol' winder and swift today! Need to get some more chemo hats done though so we'll see. Plus I need to finish the shrug and sock I'm working on, but hey, those are knit and this is crochet...gotta have something on the hook huh?:)

I ordered this last week too. I couldn't resist it when I saw that sunflower! Ya'll know I love sunflowers! I've never done intarsia before so this kind of frightens me. One good thing is if I mess up too bad, the bag is felted so little mistakes won't show up!:) Do have to learn to knit with both hands though for the color work...hmmm. Thank goodness for youtube videos!

Brrrr Cold....

Jimmy asked me yesterday to make him a ski mask to cover his cheeks when he's outside playing. Looked on Ravelry and found this pattern. So now he won't have anymore cold cheekers! Also made three chemo hats this weekend. Watched the Nascar race yesterday and cleaned house this weekend. Cold, rainy day today for Jimmy to try out his new hat!
Happy President's Day!

Jimmy with his Webkinz love monkey...named it Sweet Tart!

James with his new ties!

Jimmy surprised me with this Build-a-Bear Love Monkey...had me shut my eyes so he could wrap it around my neck for a hug.
James surprised me with this beautiful tea set and tea. Its sooooo pretty, the leaves match my kitchen and it has ladybugs, dragonflies, and bees like my sunflower border.
I was so shocked because he'd already told me to order this Berocco Alpaca yarn I was wanting! Gonna go brew me a cup of creme brulee tea!

Friday the 13th!

Finished the Charm Quilt Granny afghan I was working on. It's made with the Vanna's Choice yarn so I can wash it and dry it. Pretty nice yarn for acrylic! Goes great with my couch and love all the shades of greens! We've all been sick so not much going on around here.
Here's something to give you a chuckle...

Miss Beatrice, the church organist, was in her eighties and had never been married. She was admired for her sweetness and kindness to all. One afternoon the pastor came to call on her and she showed him into her quaint sitting room. She invited him to have a seat while she prepared tea. As he sat facing her old Hammond organ, the young minister noticed a cute glass bowl sitting on top of it. The bowl was filled with water, and in the water floated, of all things, a condom! When she returned with tea and scones, they began to chat. The pastor tried to stifle his curiosity about the bowl of water and its strange floater, but soon it got the better of him and he could no longer resist. 'Miss Beatrice', he
said, 'I wonder if you would tell me about this?' pointing to the bowl. 'Oh, yes,' she replied, 'Isn't it wonderful? I was walking through the park a few months ago and I found this little package on the ground. The directions said to place it on the organ, keep it wet and that it would prevent the spread of disease. Do you know I haven't had the flu all winter.'

Sweetheart Ipod!

Went to the mailbox yesterday and was surprised to find an envelope with my name on it...opened it up and found this adorable ipod! Isn't this the cutest thing ever! Inside is the yummy sweetheart candies, which I love and always buy at Valentines! Jennifer is the brains behind this awesome creation, she is so crafty and talented and clever. I just love it...especially since I've been so addicted to podcasts lately its just perfect. In fact I did have the ol' ear buds in as I was opening it!:) Thank you Jen so much, you're the best!

Let's see I did do some cleaning and then I worked on these mitered squares throughout the day. They are for a blanket project on Ravelry. Can't say much more about them in case someone comes to visit the blog. But there will be many more squares from others and all be put together to form a blanket for someone special. I've been wanting to start this out of my scrap sock yarn too and was delighted to try it out. Although the size 1 needles start cramping my hands after awhile I just take breaks and do it intermittently. Can't wait to see the finished blanket. There's a couple on Rav that people have completed, very cool and colorful. Have a great weekend and knit/cro something fun!

Dogs on Thursdays...DOT!

These are a few of my favorite things...
Fuji has been enamored with this stuffed frog since she was a baby. Yes, its a frog...it has no arms anymore, no squeaker, and has had many, many surgeries! She knows where her "froggy" is at all times and if asked will bring it to you! We did buy a back up but she doesn't want nothing to do with it. This is her all time favorite toy! She doesn't go far without it either!

As you can see "froggy" is near even when she's playing with another toy. She even brings it to bed with her at night. If she forgets you hear her running down the hall to go get it and come back to bed! Its her favorite color too. She has a huge basket of toys (yes, she's spoiled) and she'll go dig out all her green toys and put them in a pile...then she'll pick out her pink toys and put them in a pile. What's funny is I never trained her to do this, she just does it! There are also certain toys that we've named that if you say the name to her she'll bring it to you...of course "froggy" is one of them..."mean kitty" is another (it says mean kitty on the toy, not our name for it)...and "fishie." Can't think of the others right now!

Another favorite thing is snuggling with her Daddy!

Loves playing with the cats (we have 3). They play chase and tag and its so hilarious because they go after her! Even our older cat Q-Tip who's fourteen loves playing with her! Pictured above is her playing with Trouble...how do you like the sideways stare she's giving him!:)

And of course, best of all....kisses and loving from her Mommy!

Fun....

Jimmy and I decided to have a fun day on Groundhog day. We returned his Wii game to Blockbuster...then went to Petsmart for some big doggy food and treats for Fuji...mosied on over to Target because he wanted to look at Neopet cards....then our big destination, Barnes and Nobles. We spent so much time and had so much fun in there. He chose a Garfield comic book and I sat and looked and looked and looked at knit/crochet books. He read a good quarter of the book before we went to the magazine section. I have to tell you though the magazine section suckerood for the knit/crochet magazines...all they had was Interweave Knit! This is a huge store and that's all they had! Soooooo of course we had to go to Michaels because I could feel the coupon in my purse saying "use me!" Guess what? They had some knit/crochet magazines! Also got some stuff to make crochet stitch markers...I didn't have any..I either use scrap yarn or a safety pin! Of course some yarn jumped into the cart! Then we went to another Target because the one we went to didn't have what he was looking for...found those and I also found a fabric shaver...boy does it really get the pills off felted things! Then we went home and had some lunch. All the while he was reading his new book in the car...he's already half way done! That might mean another trip to Barnes and Noble!:) The yellowish yarn is to crochet myself a cowboy hat out of the Happy Hooker book. The blue yarn is to design my grandma something special for her birthday. She'll be 90 this year and also she's the one who taught me to crochet so thought it'd be perfect to make her something. Her birthday is the same day as mine! Hope I live as long as her...she's healthy as a horse too! She still drives, crochets, goes to church, goes to friends and plays cards or do each others hair, walks and takes care of her plants. Would never know she's that old!:) How great is that!

These are the crochet stitch markers I made! A lot prettier than scrap yarn, huh?

Today is a not so fun day....the second half of the root canal. At least I'll have some cool magazines to read while I'm waiting to numb up! Although I might get so nervous I bend the pages...that would be tragic! Wish me luck!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Happy Groundhog Day!

This originates from a German tradition saying that if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on February 2 then winter would last another six weeks! If it sees no shadow then spring would come early. The world's famous groundhog in PA saw its shadow this morning sooooooo winter should last for six more weeks. Here in CA, my little chipmunk hasn't hibernated since December...think that explains the beautiful weather we've been having?:)

Congratulations Steelers! Way to go!
We're not football fans, in fact we only watch the superbowl but what an awesome game. Great plays on both teams! We are Nascar fans though, which should be starting up again soon...ha ha starting up, get it, "gentlemen start your engines!"

Have a great day!

Superbowl Sunday!

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals

Who will win?

This could be the sixth superbowl win for Pittsburgh and make them set a record for most superbowl wins! Go Steelers!

These were my FO's for the week...a swiffer shrug (which works absolutely great) and a sponge. I've got to make a couple more swiffer shrugs, they're awesome! Still working on my Peppermint Patty socks..I do a couple rows a day because its so tedious...crocheting on my afghan, and the Dream in Color shrug is still on the needles but haven't worked on it.

I'm wanting to put some of our soaps on etsy but don't know what kind of scents to put...give me some of your ideas, what's your favorite scent? Thanks a bunch!
