Beautiful Lapghans...

Sillyfru of the Sassypants Knitter Podcast sent in this cheery lapghan that she's been working on. She has been such a blessing in this contest by mentioning it on nine of her episodes! I get excited each time too, think I say every time "hey, knittinwolf, that's me!:)!! This has really meant a lot to me her doing this...then I open her package today with the blanket.....look what else was in it...this adorable Snowbunny figurine which is entitled "A basket of joy".....each week her podcast is my basket of joy so if you haven't listened to her, get over there and download all the episodes! This token from her of course brought happy tears and means so much to me! I haven't met a lot of my online friends but feel soooo close to them, such a treasure!

The next package held Andreia's pretty blanket....she also sent a little somethin' to me....these beautiful sock stitch markers. I'm so blessed to have such awesome friends!

Cat sent this fabulous blanket....love the pattern on it, and the colors are so springy. These packages are so fun to open and can't wait to see the joy all of these blankets bring to the nursing home residents!
Going to check the P.O. Box Friday to see if there are any blankets and will draw winners and post it later that day! Thank you so much for doing this!:)

Dogs on Thursdays...DOT!

Fuji helping me take a picture of one of the donated lapghans!
This was done by Vicki W......beautiful colors!
Contest ends April 1!
Don't worry this won't be donated with dog hair :) ....I wash all blankets sent in and they're put in a huge zippered bag. This is so there are no allergens or scents on them so the residents of the nursing home don't complain or get sick.

Happy DOT!!

Phat Tuesday!!!

Happy Phat Tuesday (Mardi Gras 2010)!!
Wear your beads proudly!:)

Finished Object: Crocheted Rectangular Lapghan for my niece, Lila. Her birthday is Mar. 2 and made her this blanket to snuggle up with when she reads the books I'm sending her too! Such fun girly colors too...pinks her favorite color!:) She is so much fun to knit/crochet for, I'm always finding cute things to make for her. It's also awesome because she really loves what I make for her. Besides Jimmy she's my favorite person to make things for!:)

Another fabulous lapghan for the charity contest! This one was crocheted by Jo (bellatrix). It is a crocheted entrelac pattern, very beautiful.
I took three blankets with me to the nursing home yesterday to see what kind of response I was going to get from the staff. On Ravelry I went into the whole fiasco with social workers....No one said a word to me yesterday. I gave my Grandma the one I made for her (she wrapped it around herself like a shawl...hey they have a duel use)....gave the deaf lady a bright red one which she loved and had to show me that it matched her decorative pillow :).....then I gave another lady one which was DawnRene's....the lady teared up and said "it was the most beautiful thing she'd ever had...perfect size...so much work...loved the colors...then told me she used to knit socks for the soldiers in the war!" I got lots of hugs and kisses! Such a joy to see them enjoy them! They had to keep comparing their blankets saying "mines prettier than yours" so funny! Think I will continue to pass them out this way...a few at a time to those I see alone a lot. My Grandma is even wanting some of the lapghan patterns to help make them for the nursing home! Think she's getting her crochet mojo back!:)

Friday the 13th!

Finished the Charm Quilt Granny afghan I was working on. It's made with the Vanna's Choice yarn so I can wash it and dry it. Pretty nice yarn for acrylic! Goes great with my couch and love all the shades of greens! We've all been sick so not much going on around here.
Here's something to give you a chuckle...

Miss Beatrice, the church organist, was in her eighties and had never been married. She was admired for her sweetness and kindness to all. One afternoon the pastor came to call on her and she showed him into her quaint sitting room. She invited him to have a seat while she prepared tea. As he sat facing her old Hammond organ, the young minister noticed a cute glass bowl sitting on top of it. The bowl was filled with water, and in the water floated, of all things, a condom! When she returned with tea and scones, they began to chat. The pastor tried to stifle his curiosity about the bowl of water and its strange floater, but soon it got the better of him and he could no longer resist. 'Miss Beatrice', he
said, 'I wonder if you would tell me about this?' pointing to the bowl. 'Oh, yes,' she replied, 'Isn't it wonderful? I was walking through the park a few months ago and I found this little package on the ground. The directions said to place it on the organ, keep it wet and that it would prevent the spread of disease. Do you know I haven't had the flu all winter.'
