Day 5 with Randy!.....and test shawl!

Rubbin' against my clogs!
You can tell he's feeling better than yesterday!
As I write this he's ripping around the couch snorting away! LOL
Loves to lay in the sun! Still a bit sleepy today! He loves me to kiss the top of his head while really making the exaggerated kiss sound and then he makes the same smack sound...its so funny! Another odd thing I've noticed is when they are nervous they grind their teeth...gives ya goose bumps to hear it. As soon as I tell him "your ok" he stops.

Finally finished the test knit I was doing for Leftsideknits...It's called the Chosen Path Shawl...fabulous pattern and a fun knit. I did this in a dk yarn my niece, Lila, bought for me in Taos, NM...just gorgeous!

It's blocking right now...as you can see it's HUGE! It's longer than my love seat that shows a bit in the pic! Going to be very snuggly and warm! Hope it will get cold enough again so I can use it...Nichole blow some of that cold snow globe weather your having to CA!:)

Happy Birthday to Sillyfru today too! XOXO!!

WIP Wednesday!

Playful Plumage Shawl by Chrissy Prange
Wollmeise 100% Merino Superwash is the colorway Orient
US 6 Circular Needles
This is a fantastic pattern! So nice to knit on a pattern without a lot of errata. Very clear, big, nice charts too! Loving it!

This is for the High Fiber Diet's Podcast drive to get hats for the troops!
This is my second one. Mainly only knit on this during knit meets because it is a non-thinker pattern!:)

Blocking Class!

Unblocked 198 yds. of Heaven Shawl...

Close up of the pattern of the 198 yds. of Heaven Shawl...

Blocking the 198 yds. of Heaven Shawl...

198 yds. of Heaven by Christy Verity
Knitpicks Interchangeable circular needle size 8
Cascade 220 Handpaints....was odd knitting with this for a shawl. I'm so used to fingering or lace weight. Was not to thrilled with it when knitting it but it blocked out beautifully.

Blocking your knits class went really well today. It was a lot of fun! Was so glad I did this at Wolfe Farms so I could have a lot of show and tells to demonstrate different techniques. PDF instructional handout it is on the Wolfe Farms site. We also blocked Neckio30's cabled scarf! Knit Twit meet that followed was a lot of fun with tons of laughs!

Centrique Shawl!

Centrique Shawl I made for my mil's (Mum's) birthday!
It was made on US 6 circulars and the yarn is Plymouth Yarn Sockin' Sox.
It reminded me of peacock feathers when it was all laid out and blocking!
Last week CoggieTM of The High Fiber Diet Podcast mentioned it on her episode!:)

Hope she enjoys wearing it! Would love to have a picture of her with it on!:)
I enjoyed this pattern so much I'm making another...this one is out of FreckleFaceFibers Tehachapi in the Fall colorway! This was the colorway she designed for last years Cogknitive Retreat! Wanted to make something out of it so I can wear it to this years retreat!:)

Multnomah!!

Close up of feather and fan pattern...

Multnomah blocking.....
This was an experience blocking this....through the blanket down on the ground...soaked the shawl....went over to the blanket and thought "oh no I can't get down on my knees!"....scooched off a chair onto my hiney and blocked it as I scooched around on my butt...had all the cats and Fuji watching me and wondering what I was doing! Didn't even think about my knees being hurt until it was too late, duh, oh well I got it done. Can you hear my hubby saying "stubborn redhead!" :) Didn't get it done by the end of the Ravelympics(could of if I stopped when the pattern said) but wanted to use up the yarn and did more repeats than it called for. Love the colors of greens in this Bee Mice Elf yarn!

Ravelympics Update!!

Progress on my Multnomah shawl.....this has been frogged twice now....I have a million stitch markers now marking every feather and fan repeat....there's no way this is getting messed up again!:) This is lovely yarn by Bee Mice Elf....merino/cashmere yummy blend! Plus it's in my favorite colors...greens!
Jimmy and I started the YMCA yesterday. I swam 32 laps yesterday and 36 laps today. Feels so good to be back in the water. I'm soooooo sore though. I didn't feel sore until I pulled myself out of the pool and felt all jello-ee, now it's just sore! The lifeguard came up to me today though and asked if I'd like to join there Masters program...I so wanted to laugh because there is no way I could keep up with the Masters!:) Everyone there has been really friendly though. The guy at the entrance startled me today by saying I couldn't bring my bag in...I looked at him odd and said "huh, why?"....he laughed and said it was because it was a Jeff Gordon bag! Ug, here I thought I'd done something wrong, ha ha he's a Tony Stewert fan, yuck!!:)
Off to finish school up with Jimmy and laundry...then dinner...then KNIT!!!!!

Shimmy & Shawl...

Finished my Traveling Woman shawl for the Barknknit knit a long! I love making shawls...I think they're my favorite thing to knit. This one was especially nice with the cashmere in it, it's so cuddly, smooshy, and soft! It was done in Handmaiden Casbah on size 5 circ's! Already have another pattern I'm itching to cast on but need to make a skully baby hat first....or I might just cast on a little of the Multnomah shawl....

Had a blast at belly dancing again last night. Dr. Gemma of the Cogknitive podcast, Mindy, and Hannah showed up from our knitting group.....all the others chickened out or flaked on us!:) I bought this cool coin hip scarf (notice I'm not modeling it):)!!! It makes it so much fun to hear that jingle when you move, so now I jingle when I shimmy! Those of us who came last night are signing up for more lessons...I can't wait! I also can't wait to practice today just so I can wear that cool scarf and hear the coins jingle....the cats love it too!
Off to do school and make some soap boxes! Have a great day!

FO: Landscape Shawl

Finished my Landscape shawl....it's so soft and cuddly!
Now I need to finish the monkey socks that have been marinating and the drop stitch scarf. Casted on the Mr. Greenjeans sweater too....I keep wanting to cast on for things!:)

This is the handspun yarn that I made for Dawn for her birthday. I snagged the pic from her blog because I forgot to take a picture of it when I finished because I was in such a hurry to get it to her! Can't wait to see what she makes out of it!

Works in Progress....

My Landscape shawl is still on the needles...

Started the Drop Stitch scarf (which is an awesome, easy fun pattern)....Fuji sees me grab the project bag its in and she goes running for the back door because I've been working on it outside rocking in my chair! She's so funny! Also have my Monkey socks hibernating in my purse...and crocheting washcloths every week.

Started the Couch to 5K program yesterday. It's a really cool iphone ap that tells you when to run, when to walk, cool down....I did it on my eliptical because I have really bad ankles that I don't know would survive real running. I have bones that wrap around my tendons/muscles and when I stomp down it pulls them like a rubber band...plus I've broken them a few times too. I'm supposed to always where ankle braces but well I don't.:) Might try it around my backyard, we'll see, but I figure I'm still doing it even though its on a machine..it should still count! The sweat is pouring so that's a good thing right?:)
Today my mom is having a colonoscopy/endoscopy because she's having bad tummy problems, even had an allergic reaction to the preparation drink for the procedure...please say a prayer for her that everything will go well and that they don't find anything seriously wrong.

Pattern Help...

This is the Landscape Shawl by Evelyn Clark. I'm using Lorna's Laces Lion & Lamb yarn in the colorway Wild Purls. I thought it was worsted weight and so preceded to check my gauge for that. Well, it is aran weight....is aran weight worsted or dk? My next boo boo is I did the gauge swatch in stockinette because that is what most do it in.....well read the pattern last night and suddenly saw that it said to do the gauge in garter st. What fun reading those little bumps...I have 14sts to 4in.....that is the gauge for dk weight in the pattern, for the worsted version its 12st to 4 in. Sooooo do I frog it and do the pattern in the dk version or just continue on in the worsted weight version.....in the end on the worsted weight I'll end up with 184 sts whereas with the dk version I'd end up with 204. I'm stuck.....I know its a shawl and all but I'm wanting to use up the yarn the best way plus I don't want to run out which with either way I go I shouldn't because I bought enough yardage. Have I totally confused you? I've totally confused myself with this! I shouldn't have found that little blurb in the pattern about the gauge and I'd still be knitting merrily away! Let me know what ya'll think!!!

Clue 2, Whoohoo!

Clue 2 of the Mystery Crochet Shawl Along came out yesterday. It only had three rows added. Wish it'd had more because this is really fun so far!:) I love, love, love this yarn too. The anticipation for Clue 3 is looming ahead!:)
My goal this year is to try a bunch of new things.
1. Crochet lace...which I'm doing above with the CAL.
2. Learn to spin...I've spun some wool and alpaca.
3. Continental knitting and Norwegian purling....worked on this during the weekend. At first I was so fumbly like a new knitter but after five rows I think I've got the hang of it and my tension is even. What's funny is I hold my yarn continental style when I crochet! They noticed this at my group and couldn't believe I crocheted before I knit!:) These techniques will lead me into...
4. Colorwork/fair isle. I want my Continental a little more automatic before I delve into this one.
5. Also might try designing a bit. I'm wanting to design a special crocheted item for my grandma's birthday in July...she'll be 90 and she's the one who taught me to crochet. I have some ideas but haven't tried them yet. They're sketched in my mind!:) After I finish the wrap I'm working on I'm going to start on this.
So it's only March and I'm off to a good start on my "new things."
