Grandma's Yarns...

Grandma's Yarns & Notions
45239 N. 12 th St. East
661-723-YARN
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00-6:00

Hung out at the lys this past Saturday....hadn't seen the "Grannies" in a few weeks! Had a great time catching up on things. Bought these rainbow of colors to make the Marley hat, it should make a couple of hats with all this yarn, can't wait to cast on for it! Need to finish the Hemlock Ring Blanket first though! Went home for lunch and Angie texted me that they got in glass (pyrex) dpn's! Went back to the yarn store to try them out (just down the street from me)!:) They are awesome! Casted on a preemie hat to test them out. They didn't screech, the yarn grips well to them, they're not slippery, knit really well! I'm used to my dpn's being 6in. long but these didn't hurt or bug my hands. They also have straight glass needles too where you can choose from the beautiful toppers and have customized to your liking. Also they have crochet hooks too which are fabulous! I've tested them all and they are all fun to knit/cro with!:)

April 24 between 2-6 the Grannies are starting a knit/cro/spin time....looking forward to hanging out and having some fun! So if you're local come on over and get your knit on!:)

Baby Skully Hat!

A finished object!!! Made this baby hat for a friend at my hubby's work. I saw a pic of baby Ashur in a skully diaper and when I saw this pattern had to make it for him! I'm sure hoping it will fit him. If not his mommy can put it on one of his plush toys!

Works in Progress....

On the hook I'm working on a cowgirl hat out of the Happy Hooker book. Also have the mystery shawl crochet along on a hook but haven't worked on it at all.
On the needles I have a monkey sock out of the beach ball colorway from a Woolgirl club shipment. I keep this in my purse so it doesn't get much done on it.

My first Iris of the year!

Happy DOT!

Another not so happy Fuji pic!
My girl really likes to be naked and not dressed up!
This is the hat I test crocheted for Alisha. She's in the process of making it in different sizes too. You can click on her link to get to her website to see when she'll be having it for sale. I've made five of these already trying to make an itty bitty size for one of Fuji's new friends. It's a great, fast, easy, well written pattern.

The pattern works well for cats too, as Jimmy displays in these photos!:) They were easier to photograph with the hats on than Fuji was, they just sat there!:) Jimmy has also found that these hats are great for all his Webkinz stuff toys and has requested some different colored ones!

I know this is supposed to be just a dog post but these cats don't know they aren't dogs! They follow you around like they are dogs, they try to eat the dogs food, they drink out of the dogs water...they even beg for cheese when Fuji is! Now if they bark we have a problem folks!:)

Have a Happy Dogs on Thursday and visit the fur babies posts!

Brrrr Cold....

Jimmy asked me yesterday to make him a ski mask to cover his cheeks when he's outside playing. Looked on Ravelry and found this pattern. So now he won't have anymore cold cheekers! Also made three chemo hats this weekend. Watched the Nascar race yesterday and cleaned house this weekend. Cold, rainy day today for Jimmy to try out his new hat!
Happy President's Day!

FO Friday!

Fuji says "Namaste!"

Yoga socks are finished!
Haven't used them yet because haven't felt well from all the dental work.

Two Crocheted Chemo Hats with roses on them for the Hearts of Love group.

And finished the Valentine cloth!
Lots coming off the needles...I'm sure lots will be going on!
Still on the needles: Dream in Color Shrug and Peppermint Patty sock!
Might wind the Malabrigo I got the other day and start the cowl and scarf! Oh and I want to start crocheting that blanket that I bought the Vanna yarn for....we'll see!

For the non-knitters who read my blog...FO is not a bad word, it means Finished Object!:)

First FO's of the Year....

Crocheted Swirl Cap....been wanting to make a newsboy cap...really easy and fun!
Found the cute pewter heart buttons at JoAnn's the other day...perfect Valentine hat!
Easy Crochet Dishcloth...crocheted this yesterday while Jimmy was taking his math and history test. Needs to be a smidgen bigger though....next time!

Finally finished one of the Peppermint Patty socks....had to rip it out the first time because it wasn't long enough. I was/am worrying about having enough for the second sock but this weighed 40gms. and I have 75gms on the ball...I guess looks are deceiving. Every fourth stitch is a cable so this is taking quite a long time especially since its on size 1 needles!

Bella Hats!

Look at the awesome key chain my hubby brought me yesterday!
Yes, to go with my Twilight obsession!:)

Finished the one Bella hat yesterday and decided to make another!

Bella is from the movie, Twilight, and wears this in one of the scenes.
If you've seen the movie, its when she's at the beach in La Push.

I had such a hard time doing this pattern the first time that I almost quit it. Contacted the designer like five times. Finally yesterday it all clicked and worked up real easy! Weird!
Have a great weekend!

Supposed to go to Big Bear tomorrow...Have a great weekend!

Twihard Fan....

Are we a Twihard fan or what? Look at this cool necklace I got on etsy. Mary has awesome things in her shop, beautiful, unique jewelry! Go check her out...her customer service is awesome! Plus she packages it really lovely too! Jimmy's even wanting to wear it! I even watched MTV yesterday for half an hour because they were supposed to have a big Twilight spoiler thing..well they didn't :(!!!!
Guess what also happened yesterday? ........... I sold six more hats! The high schooler said that this is just for the ones he's collected money from that there's more! Whoo hoo! He also mentioned to me that he wants to start a knitting group on campus and that he has four other boys interested! Very cool! Gotta get to whippin' these hats out...did ask him to give me a couple of days to crank these out! I've also gotta get my scarf done...

"If I could dream at all, it would be about you. And I'm not ashamed of it." -Edward Cullen
As you can guess this is inspired from the Stephanie Meyer book, Twilight!
