Sugar & Spice!

Wee Tiny Sugar & Spice Sock!

Wee Tiny Sock Club - February 2010!

This is a toe-up construction that starts with a provisional cast-on for a short row toe. Gusset increases and flap heel. The leg is worked in ribbing and the ruffles are knit inside the sock...when its complete the ruffles show on the outside....be interesting to see how this works! Will knit this up as soon as I'm finished with my Ravelympic project!

Kit includes: Beyond Basics Knits Prima Superwash Sock; stitch markers; heart pencil; Valentine card; heart notepad; conversation heart candies; pattern.

My last mini sock (the red oriental one) won the photo contest on the Ravelry boards and I received the adorable oriental coin purse. It had a Ghirardelli candy in it (which Jimmy ate right away), stickers and some change! Very pretty! Think it will be perfect to hold all my stitch markers!:)

We are official YMCA members now...signed up yesterday while Jimmy was swimming. I'm taking time off to ice my knee and we'll see how it feels next week....then I will start off slowly!:) As I was filling out paperwork looked up and saw Nicole (FreckleFaceFibers) and Juanita (jdheyerman) on the treadmills, which was awesome! Now I just need to run into Jeanine (msdiva)!! Everyone there is so nice and its soooo clean! Loving it!

Ravelympics Update!!

Progress on my Multnomah shawl.....this has been frogged twice now....I have a million stitch markers now marking every feather and fan repeat....there's no way this is getting messed up again!:) This is lovely yarn by Bee Mice Elf....merino/cashmere yummy blend! Plus it's in my favorite colors...greens!
Jimmy and I started the YMCA yesterday. I swam 32 laps yesterday and 36 laps today. Feels so good to be back in the water. I'm soooooo sore though. I didn't feel sore until I pulled myself out of the pool and felt all jello-ee, now it's just sore! The lifeguard came up to me today though and asked if I'd like to join there Masters program...I so wanted to laugh because there is no way I could keep up with the Masters!:) Everyone there has been really friendly though. The guy at the entrance startled me today by saying I couldn't bring my bag in...I looked at him odd and said "huh, why?"....he laughed and said it was because it was a Jeff Gordon bag! Ug, here I thought I'd done something wrong, ha ha he's a Tony Stewert fan, yuck!!:)
Off to finish school up with Jimmy and laundry...then dinner...then KNIT!!!!!

The exciting thing is that Catherine also known as Mama Llama contacted me to see if Wolfe Farms would be interested in having our soaps in the club!!!! Of course I told her YES!! Phat Tuesday!!!

Happy Phat Tuesday (Mardi Gras 2010)!!
Wear your beads proudly!:)

Finished Object: Crocheted Rectangular Lapghan for my niece, Lila. Her birthday is Mar. 2 and made her this blanket to snuggle up with when she reads the books I'm sending her too! Such fun girly colors too...pinks her favorite color!:) She is so much fun to knit/crochet for, I'm always finding cute things to make for her. It's also awesome because she really loves what I make for her. Besides Jimmy she's my favorite person to make things for!:)

Another fabulous lapghan for the charity contest! This one was crocheted by Jo (bellatrix). It is a crocheted entrelac pattern, very beautiful.
I took three blankets with me to the nursing home yesterday to see what kind of response I was going to get from the staff. On Ravelry I went into the whole fiasco with social workers....No one said a word to me yesterday. I gave my Grandma the one I made for her (she wrapped it around herself like a shawl...hey they have a duel use)....gave the deaf lady a bright red one which she loved and had to show me that it matched her decorative pillow :).....then I gave another lady one which was DawnRene's....the lady teared up and said "it was the most beautiful thing she'd ever had...perfect size...so much work...loved the colors...then told me she used to knit socks for the soldiers in the war!" I got lots of hugs and kisses! Such a joy to see them enjoy them! They had to keep comparing their blankets saying "mines prettier than yours" so funny! Think I will continue to pass them out this way...a few at a time to those I see alone a lot. My Grandma is even wanting some of the lapghan patterns to help make them for the nursing home! Think she's getting her crochet mojo back!:)

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! DawnRene sent me this link for the pic and I just loved it!
Guess I'll be teaching James to knit socks today!!! The little weanie dog reminds me of my friend Nancy who has weanie dogs, always think of her when I see these dogs!
Had a wonderful time yesterday attending the virtual baby shower for danceNknit! We had so much fun we're planning on getting together each month to have a virtual knit meet! Then after I finished the laundry yesterday went and hung out at the new yarn store! They got in a whole bunch of Cascade, so many colors to choose from! I wanting to do the Hemlock Ring blanket and need to pick a color (of course I always grab the green) also was deciding if I wanted to do it in superwash or not? Decisions, decisions....need to get through the Ravelympics first....
Have a wonderful day.....knitting, Nascar, beer butt chicken and hanging with my guys....perfect!:)

Ravelympics!!

Ravelympics starts tonight at 7:30p.m. when they light the Olympic Torch!!

Mass Cast-On at 6 pm Pacific Standard Time February 12, as the Opening Ceremonies begin in Vancouver! Find out what time that is in your local zone here. No casting-on before this moment! (with the exception of WIP/UFO event entries)
Ending time: 11;59:59 PST February 28; the closing ceremonies will be earlier that evening, but since the exact moment of torch extinguishment is unknown, we’ll give you until midnight. Each Ravelympics project must be marked Finished on the project page prior to the ending time in order to qualify for a medal.
What is Finished? Does it mean blocked? Ends woven in? Sewn together? Photographed? That’s up to you. See the big rule at the top: Challenge YOURSELF. Do you feel it’s finished without the ends woven in, or before blocking? Then mark it finished. If not, don’t. Be honest with yourself, and we’ll celebrate with you.
The Finish Line: Each event will have its own FINISH LINE thread on the Ravelympics 2010 board. Post details of your finished object in the thread(s) for the event(s) in which it is competing. (Details of what to post – link to project page and picture, for example – will be listed in the thread.) The FINISH LINE threads will be open for a day or two after the closing ceremonies, so if you can’t get a pic and post by the official closing time, just cross as soon as you can.
Medalling:
BobicusMaximus will hand out medals (blog badges) to each finisher in the event threads.
You’ll be able to follow your team and event progress on the special Ravelympics stats page that Casey’s magic machine assembles out of all properly tagged projects. Chat and cheer in special threads for each team and
event!

I’m doing:
Charity Curling - lapghan
Scarf Super-G and WIPS dancing -drop stitch scarf that's been marinating in my purse forever...

Tomorrow morning my Barknknit buddies and I are doing a virtual baby shower for our friend in Canada, danceNknit! We're going to use Skype and watch her open the presents we've sent her. Should be lots of fun!

Children's Hospital...

Donating this lapghan I just finished to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. These are children with cancer, autoimmune disease, traumatic injury, or other illnesses that make being a kid and having fun a lot more difficult. Children undergoing medical treatments will hopefully appreciate the extra comfort of a hand crocheted lap blanket to keep them warm.
