Long Day!

Boy, oh boy was today a long day! Changing beds, doing laundery, mending (for over an hour, which I hate), and cooking. Made lazagna, garlic bread, brocoli salad, frosty orange dream squares and some spinach dip. Haven't even gone swimming yet today! But right now a nice, hot bubble bath is calling my name and then working on my circ. sock. While at Walmart yesterday I was quite excited to find that they'd gotten produce and meat in, whoohoo, now I'll need a bigger cart! Tootles!

Howdy!

Wow, sorry haven't posted in a while. Been real busy with swim team practice and private practices with my son. Plus we've been doing a lot of swimming at home. I'm actually feeling better this week, whew the medicines are finally working! After feeling bad for over 6 months its weird to feel good! Still working on my #2 circ sock. I got to the gusset part last night and it was so foreign to me I put it down and just watched So You Think You Can Dance. Picked the sock up this morning and figured out what to do next. Yeah! I wonder if I'll have it done my our next meeting? Hopefully, or you'll think I'm pretty lame!:) On our group posting boy did someone have their panties in a twist, whowee! Ms. M handled it so nicely! Pat on the back for you chica! What was the big deal? Hmmm. Exciting to see new members! Gonna go make my ds some yummy scrumptious pancakes! Tootles!

Knotty Knitter Meeting!

What an awesome group! Had so much fun! What a bunch of talented knitters! Carol was working on a rainbow shawl which is absolutely gorgeous plus she brought socks to show, wow! Ann was wearing a beautiful shawl she'd made and making a felted tote bag with vibrant colors. Mindy was making the neatest mittens, amazing watching her knit and she wasn't even looking at it! Jaimie was working on a scarf but had made an awesome shawl pin, so creative! Jo gave me a great idea about knitting two socks at one time where you don't end up with just one, plus she's going to teach me how to circle 8 cast on toe up (boy thats a mouthful)! Diane was working on a black shawl and Juanita I have no idea what it was but it had pretty colors. What was really cool was Carol had her son there and he was knitting a totally cool cat bed and Mindy/Jaime's daughter was knitting too a bright scarf! Miss Leesa showed for the meeting, whoohoo and was knitting a sweater arm and sportin' curls!:) Can't wait for the next meeting, which will probably fall right on my birthday! Great present to knit for four hours with a bunch of great people! Excited about meeting the others that weren't able to make it. I forgot to say what I worked on; my other circ sock and starting my Jimmy sock! TTFN

Friday/Saturday

Boy, have I been busy. Friday had a doctor appt. in Woodland Hills - nothing happened there. But afterwards my DH took me out to lunch and to two yarn stores. One of them was horrible (no inventory and very rude) but the other one was Unwind which was totally awesome! Beautiful store, friendly staff, huge, huge, huge selection! I bought some Panda Cotton (2), Regia bamboo (for my son), three pairs of dpn needles, stitch markers, and a sock pattern. Can't wait to go back sometime.

Yesterday was laundery and ironing but we did go and buy a easy set up pool. After it was filled we went swimming in it and played with all the toys we bought. Played with the beach balls, water guns, kick boards and my son bought an awesome pirate ship that squirts from the cannon. So fun! We got out and bbq hot dogs, had a blast! For our evening entertainment we watched ERAGON. It was a really great movie, now I'm going to have to read the book. Usually I do that first but I didn't think I'd like it.

Today I'm going to a get together with the KnottyKnitters! Let you know how that goes later. TTFN

How to Stay Married!

How to stay married!

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had
shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no
secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in
the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or
ask her about. For all of these years, he had never thought about the
box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said
she would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little
old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside. She
agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box.

When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money
totaling $95,000.

He asked her about the contents. "When we were to be married," she said,
"my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never
argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just
keep quiet and crochet a doll."

The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two
precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two
times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with
happiness.

"Honey," he said, "that explains the doll, but what about all of this
money? Where did it come from?" Oh," she said, "that's the money I made
from selling the dolls."

Happy Father's Day!

After tucking their three-year-old child Sammy in for bed one night, his parents heard sobbing coming from his room. Rushing back in, they found him crying hysterically. He managed to tell them that he had swallowed a penny and he was sure he was going to die. No amount of talking helped.

His father, in an attempt to calm him down, palmed a penny from his pocket and pretended to pull it from Sammy's ear. Sammy was delighted. In a flash, he snatched it from his father's hand, swallowed it, then cheerfully demanded,

"Do it again, Dad!"

This was in my devotional and thought it was really cute. This is sooo something my son would do. My darling husband and son went to the movies together for father's day to see the new Fantastic 4 movie. I have the whole house to myself, nice and quiet, plenty of time to hmmm???? KNIT! Kinda feels a little like mother's day! ha ha Hope you all have a safe and blessed day!

Gardening!

Whew, its hot and windy today. Just got done planting some plants outside. I planted a blue hydrangea, yellow gerbera, 2 hall's honeysuckle, white calla lily, serena lavender, pink geisha and a pinwheel periwinkle. I'm covered in potting soil from my fingers to my toes! When I came in from the heat I enjoyed a treat I made. It tastes like a 50/50 bar. You can get a copy of the recipe on the kraft site. http://www.kraftfoods.com Frosty Orange Dream Squares. They are so refreshing. I used nilla crust instead of smashing up vanilla wafers, much easier!
Still working on circ. sock. The needles are so little and all over the place. Getting there though!

Fairy Godmother!

After watching the movie Cinderella, five-year-old Sarah started using her pinwheel as a magic wand, pretending she was a fairy godmother.
"Make three wishes," she told her mother, "and I'll grant them."
Her mom first asked for world peace. Sarah swung her wand once around and proclaimed the request fulfilled.
Next, her mother requested for a cure for all ill children. Again, with a sweep of the pinwheel, Sarah obliged.
The mother, with a glance down at her rather ample curves, made her third wish, "I wish to have a trim figure again."
The miniature fairy godmother started waving her wand..... madly.
Her mother says... "Well?"
"Oh, I'll need lots more power for this!" she exclaimed.

Thought I'd share this funny! I wish we could just wave a wand and poof we look 20 again! Still working on the 2 circ. socks. I'm having a lot of problems with it though. I've turned the heel, picked up stitches along the heel flap....do I do it on the other side? Its a Cat Bordhi pattern (no pictures) and doesn't say what to do with these picked up stitches? I put them in their basket and will look at it later, ugh! Have a great day!

The Beginning!

Hi All! This is the beginning of my blogging experience! I have no idea what I'm doing! I love to knit and will be sharing my wip and finished articles. Right now I'm working on socks on 2 circ. needles. Have about 61/2 in. on the first one done, whoohoo. Also have a baby sweater on needles, an alpaca throw, and my granny square afghan for my husband.
